Photoshop: Spinning Vortex

By following this tutorial you will learn how to create a simple type of vortex, which could perhaps be used for icons, signatures or other misc. graphics.

Step 1

Create a new image and fill it in with ##69ACD7. Make a new layer and use the Brush tool (use various sizes) to scribble randomly over the image. The color used for the strokes were #1C3D9C and #FFFFFF.

Step 2

Go to Filter - Blur - Radial Blur (amount: 100, blur method: zoom, quality: best) and click OK.

Step 3

Set the layer to Overlay and duplicate it. Then select the duplicated layer and go to Filter - Distort - Twirl [Angle: 85] and click OK. Final result below.
