Photoshop: Transparent Anti-aliased Text

This tutorial describes how to create anti-aliased text. Another way would be to save the image in PNG format, but it has drawbacks such as higher file size, as well as lack of older browser support.

Step 1

Use the Text tool to type out the text you want. Make sure the background is transparent before saving.

Step 2

Save your image by going to File - Save As. Select the GIF format from the dropdown list, type out the filename and click save. In the next window that pops up, make sure the box for transparency is enabled. Now set the matte color to, i.e. white if the background where you will place the text on is white. This is so it will blend in with the background. Now finish the saving process, and you're done.
