Photoshop: Color Isolation

This tutorial will teach you how to isolate and keep certain colors of an image.

Step 1

I will remove all the greens, yellows, etc. from the image of this girl. The objective is to keep the red hues.

Step 2

In order to do this, we'll create a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer. Use the drop-down list on the top of the window to browse through the available options. Set everything but the red and the master channel to -100 saturation. You could stop right here if you're satisfied, or do the next step if you want more contrast in your image.

Step 3

To gain a bit more contrast, add a Black and White Adjustment Layer. I used the preset High Contrast Blue Filter, but you can of course use whichever you think fits the image the most. The final touch was to set the layer to Soft Light.
